The Beijing Noodles

The 3 traditional Beijing noodles are:
1.  炸酱面 Noodle with fried soybean paste and pork.
     The signature Beijing dish.
2. 老北京打卤面 Old Beijing noodle with gravy.
The gravy contains egg, black fungus, pork and daylily. A savory dish with distinct flavor of Sichuan

Peppercorn oil.
3. 麻酱面 Noodle with sesame paste.
This is a summer noodle, we eat nearly 3 times a week. It reminds me the long summers in my
childhood.  Normally, children in the famiy put water into the thick sasame paste to make a thinner
sauce, while the parents are making the noodle.

Nearly every home could make the three, cooking skills and recipes are passed down from generation to
generation.

In most of the Peking duck restaurants, you can order a bowl of Noodle With Fried Soybean Past and Pork.

Only in small family owned restaurants or restaurants that speicalize in old Beijing dishes, you can taste the last two.

Welcome to Beijing, taste the traditions.

Dining at King's Joy

A friend of mine strongly recommended that I should go to have dinner at the king's Joy one day.

I went there with a friend on my birthday in December. So what was it like having dinner at King's Joy, the most famous vegetarian restaurant in Beijing?

There are only 3 choices, the 699 RMB set, the 599 RMB set, and the 899 RMB set.

It was really not just about eating. It was a whole evening, 3 hours of tasting, relaxing and chatting. I totally enjoyed it.

All ingredients are fresh and organic, and each dish talking. It was amazing.
